CS AwardCHAPTERS IN ACTION

The Delaware Beta Chapter at Wilmington University had a very active year.  In 2015-16 the chapter inducted 40 new members and contributed over 450 service hours to various communities and community projects.  The University’s Student Government Association awarded the chapter the Student Clubs Service Award for the second year in a row.  Dr. Johanna Bishop, Associate Professor and Director of Behavioral Science Programs, is the chapter sponsor.

The Chapter’s team, “Team Pi Gamma Mu”, raised $3,465.00 in Wilmington University’s Polar Bear Plunge.  The chapter co-sponsored the event with the Wilmu Alumni Association.  Teams plunged into the Atlantic Ocean on February 1, 2015 to help raise funds for the Special Olympics of Delaware.  Team Pi Gamma Mu had 15 team members and 94 donors.

The Delaware Beta Chapter members participated in a variety of other service projects including working with area youth, at their churches, and in community centers.  They also worked hand-in-hand with social workers, psychologists, and counsellors to help with intake and assessments.  The chapter requires at least 10 hours of volunteer work and many chapter members exceeded that minimum.  So, what did they do?
