A MESSAGE FROM THE WASHINGTON INTERNSHIP INSTITUTE

$500 Scholarships for all ACHS Students to Spend the Semester in Washington

Summer has arrived and Washington, D. C., is brimming with college students having the experience of a lifetime. From the Capitol Building to DuPont Circle and from Georgetown to Old Town, interns are filling the city with optimism, energy, and new points of view. At the Washington Internship Institute, we are especially reminded of this, as our outstanding young professionals recently arrived for the summer. Our summer interns are working in government, law, journalism, nonprofit management, healthcare, and foreign and domestic policy, and are contributing daily to the life of the city.

As you think about your fall semester, I hope that you'll consider spending it in Washington, D. C. You may take a midnight stroll on the National Mall, attend one of the many community festivals, peruse the halls of the National Museum of American History, or read an original manuscript at the Library of Congress. This fall will be an especially exciting time to be in Washington, as you will be able to participate in the many activities surrounding the 2012 election! Washington, D. C., is full of ambitious and bright young people, and the fall is a wonderful time for you to network and build friendships.

If you’re interested in having the experience of a lifetime and spending the fall semester in Washington, talk to your academic advisor about participating in the WII program. Many organizations are already reviewing fall internship applications. The earlier you apply to WII, the more internship choices you will have!

As an intern with WII, you will intern four days per week in a guaranteed internship, have a personal advisor to work with you on the process, take two classes, and have the opportunity to live in the WII apartments just blocks from the Metrorail and a short ride to the White House and Capitol.

Best of all, you may be able to earn up to a full semester's worth of credit from your college during your time in Washington, D. C. Now is the time to apply!

The application process is quick and easy. Just fill out the online application, upload an unofficial transcript and pay the application fee. You will receive a decision within five days of completing your application.

If you have any questions about the program, the application process, or obtaining school credit, please feel free to contact me.
