Start a Chapter of Pi Gamma Mu

1. Is your school a "senior college or university" (i.e., at least a 4 year school)?
2. Does your school offer majors in the majority of social science disciplines?
3. Does a doctorate level faculty member teach in most of the areas offering a major?
4. Do you have someone willing to serve as a faculty sponsor?
5. Do you think you will have at least 15 initial members in a charter class?

If you answered "YES" to each of these question, then contact Sue Watters for an application.  Upon review, if applications meet the above criteria then a site visit is completed.

Why Does My School Need a PGM Chapter?

1. One large honor society can be easier to administer than many smaller groups.
2. Multidisciplinary approach allows different majors to socialize and learn from each other.
3. Students have an opportunity to publish in a national journal.
4. Triennial conventions allow students the opportunity to attend an international conference.
5. Students establish bonds with other students from colleges all over the United States.
